BT is the main supplier in Italy of communication services and solutions dedicated entirely to companies and public authorities, both in terms of the range of activities provided and its annual turnover. BT is able to offer innovative, hi-tech solutions thanks to its own network infrastructure which is connected to the BT European (the largest transnational high speed network in Europe). and Global network And, following its acquisition of 100% of Basictel, BT will be able to make use of a wide-reaching, advanced fibre optic network covering over 8,000 kilometres and boasting major band width. Established in September 1995 by a strategic partnership involving BT (British Telecommunications) and Banca Nazionale del Lavoro. It later saw an increase in its number of shareholders with Mediaset joining in May 1996 and ENI in December 1997. The 4 of February 2005 BT announced the complete acquisition of BT. BT's turnover for the year ended March 31 2006 totalled 753,3 million Euro and a gross operating margin 53% higher than the previous year, operating exclusively in the business market and with a portfolio of more than 240,000 customers. In addition to its head office in Milan, BT is represented throughout Italy with an office in Rome and commercial offices in Turin, Bologna,Genoa, Padua, Florence, Pescara Naples, Bari employing approximately 1,300 people.
